Shay Mitchellis a Canadian model, actress and businesswoman. Her most well-known role was that of Emily Fields from the Freeform television series Pretty Little Liars. She attended acting classes in Toronto after achieving great results in dance and modeling. After securing a few commercials and guest roles in television seriesMitchell was able to get her first big break when she was cast to play the role of Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars. The show was highly praised for its talent by critics as well as fans. Shay Mitchell was born on April 10, 1987, and was raised within Ontario, Canada to parents Mark Mitchell and Precious Garcia. Her mother is Filipina as is her father, and she is of Irish and Scottish descent. Mitchell is also the cousin to Lea Salonga, a famed musical theater actress and singer. Mitchell went to Rockridge Secondary, before switching to West Vancouver Secondary. In her teens she was modeling for several companies around the globe. She travelled to Barcelona, Bangkok, Hong Kong and finally returned home to Toronto in which she started studying acting.
